Best Cheese Experiences in Sydney

Cheese and wine

If, like me, you are a fiend for cheese, then look no further. Here are some of the best places in Sydney to go when you need to satisfy a cheese craving.

The Stinking Bishops

The Stinking Bishops is a small deli-come-restaurant in Newtown that has an incredible selection of cheese and wine, in a cosy wine-bar style setting. You can curate your own cheese board by selecting 2-5 cheeses from their extensive menu, and each board comes with bread, crackers and quince paste. The portions are on the small side, so I’d recommend sharing a cheese board for starters then pick a bigger dish from the main menu. The menu often changes with the season, but the main dishes will usually include some kind of cheesy goodness. Think mac and cheese, baked camembert and cheese soufflé.

Buffalo Dining

If you’ve ever seen videos on social media of pasta being made in a cheese wheel and thought it looked amazing, then Buffalo Dining is the place to go! This tiny restaurant in Darlinghurst has a small, but perfectly formed menu that will cater for all cheese lovers. You can choose from a selection of cheese accompanied by a range of sides, or you can go for their famous Cacio de Pepe – pasta, salt, pepper and olive oil mixed together in a pecorino cheese wheel. It’s honestly one of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever had.

Omnom Cheese

Omnom Cheese is a cheese-inspired cooking school in Rosebery and is the perfect place to go for a cheese-lover’s date night or for a fun activity with friends. Depending on the class, you can make burrata, bocconcini, halloumi as well as different pasta classes! Not only is this a great way to learn more about the cheese making process, you also get to take 1kg of home-made cheese home with you.
