Do you and your partner love a date night but are fed up of the same bars and restaurants? Or are you regularly dating and looking for a first date idea that will stand out? Well, it’s your lucky day! My partner and I love finding something a little bit different to do for our dates, so I’ve come up with 4 of the best alternative date ideas that beat going out for dinner!
Picnic with a View
If there’s one thing that’s easy to find in Sydney, it’s a beautiful view of the harbour or ocean. Pack a picnic (think cheese, bread, dips and meats), a bottle of your favourite wine, cozy blanket and head to one of the many waterside vantage points across the city. I’d recommend having your picnic in the late afternoon, so you have a chance to witness the sunset – the perfect romantic backdrop.
Bouldering
If you’re feeling adventurous then bouldering is a great alternative date idea! There are heaps of bouldering venues around the city, BlocHaus in Marrickville is new and is only $20 per person for a 3 hour session. There are options for all abilities, so don’t worry if you’ve never been before. There are also loads of breweries in the area, so after you’ve worked up a sweat bouldering, you can reward yourself with a schooner afterwards!
Ghost Tour
Feeling brave? One of Sydney’s many ghost tours could be the perfect date night activity! The Rocks Ghost Tours are a great option, there are 2 tours available – north side and south side – and both give a great historical insight into the history of The Rocks, with many spooky tales thrown in. Another option is the Q Station Ghost tour – the setting for this experience couldn’t be more creepy, as the tour takes you around the many abandoned buildings in the old Quarantine Station. If you love the supernatural then a ghost tour is a great alternative date night idea!
Barefoot Bowls
Barefoot bowls, also known as lawn bowls, is an awesome day time date activity (as long as the sun is shining)! There are heaps of bowling clubs across Sydney, but my favourite has to be in Clovelly. The club is perched on top of the cliffs, just around the corner from Clovelly beach, and has amazing views across the ocean. The bowling itself is great fun (even if you’re rubbish like me) and you can also enjoy a beer or glass of wine while playing.
